More About Agdan

Agdan has been in the same family since the 1920's and is named for the first names of the Matriarch and Patriarch of the family: Agnes and Daniel.

It was only in the 1990's that electricity was finally installed to the home - a sad occasion for many as the excitement of gas fired geysers, stoves and fridges along with paraffin lamps were seen as essential to the charm.

The original Nanny to Agnes and Daniel's children is still alive and living in an old age home courtesy of the family trust - testament to the great people who have inhabited this warm and friendly family holiday home.

Your days at Agdan will be spent on the beach and viewing the whales gamboling almost within reach from the verandah, fishing, picking mussels and oysters off of the rocks, spearing octopus and negotiating with fishermen.

The following whales have been recorded in the region of Arniston: Bryde's whale, Long-finned pilot whale, Minke whale, Pygmy right whale, Pygmy sperm whale, Southern right whale and True's beaked whale.
